Daily Solutions Podcast

September came and went like a flash, while everyone was recovering from the whirlwind that was the Float Conference, Graham and Ashkahn were fielding questions about all things great and small in the industry. Here’s a handful of our favorites.

When is the Best Time to Open a Float Center? – DSP 283

Despite not having a co-host, Graham skillfully handles this issue and provides some very practical advice. Lots of float centers look to open at the best time of the year, and it can be difficult to estimate when that might be.

Graham dishes out good advice and things to consider when planning out, especially when it comes to construction delays.

Basics of Opening a Business – DSP 287

Float centers are opened by people from all different backgrounds and walks of life. There’s no class or owners manual required before opening a business, and even people with business backgrounds can have gaps in their knowledge when it comes to opening a float center.

Graham and Ashkahn share stories about the many lessons they learned while opening Float On about the fundamentals of brick and mortar businesses, with some hilarious anecdotes thrown in as well.

Common Float Tank Issues – DSP 295

If there’s one thing Ashkahn and Graham know a lot about, it’s dealing with unexpected float tank problems. These are issues that can arise regardless of manufacturer, tank, or age of the unit. Some of them are mildly annoying, some of them can be setbacks if not handled properly.

When the guys talk about surprise float tank maintenance, they’re really in their element. This episode is a fun, informative, and incredibly useful conversation for all float center owners.

The Real Tips on Building Your Own Float Tank – DSP 297

You guys just won’t let this issue rest, huh? Graham and Ashkahn try their hardest to give practical advice to anyone who wants to build their own tank and the struggles they went through doing so at Float On.

While the advice is definitely laced with cautionary tales and warnings, it’s still a great reference for what to expect when making your own float tank.

How to Help Float Research – DSP 300

There’s been a lot of excitement this year about how the float industry can help move float tank research along to help gain some recognition for this life changing practice. The industry has been trying to find creative ways to contribute to the available research, but it was ramped up with Justin Feinstein’s presentation this year at the Rise Float Gathering, and again his workshop at the Float Conference in August.

Graham and Ashkahn offer up a valuable reminder when going forward, with the fact that if done incorrectly, some attempts at scientific contributions from the industry can have negative repercussions for floating in the scientific community.
